David Seaman believes Mikel Arteta will come out good against former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace when both teams clash on Monday.

The return of Patrick Vieira to Arsenal has been the main talking point all week, as he brings his Crystal Palace side to the Emirates on Monday. It will be the first time in decades that both managers will be former Gunners captains, and the game is already predicted to be exciting.

Many have suggested Vieira might trump Arteta on his homecoming, but there is optimism from the Arsenal camp about a victory on Monday night. Both teams come into this game in progressive form, particularly the Gunners, who are unbeaten in four league games.

For both managers, the start of the season was rather difficult. Arsenal lost their first three games and have come a long way into steadying their ship. Vieira got his Crystal Palace side up and running only until the Spurs game, which they convincingly won, although the London club prepares for a big test when they face Arteta’s Gunners.

David Seaman has now given his backing to Arteta. The Arsenal legend believes the Spaniard will come out good against the Frenchman. Transfer Market Web posted out some of Seaman’s comments from his own podcast ‘Seaman Says’, where he went on to predict an Arsenal victory on Monday night.

Seaman said, “He must be really looking forward to it. Will he feel he’s got a chance of nicking something? I bet he does. With Arsenal, though, coming off the back of the game against Brighton. For me, that result was a better result than what they got credit for with that weather because it was absolutely torrential rain all the way through.”

“I know Brighton had a lot of chances but normally, under those sort of conditions and being as physical and as good as they are, Arsenal would have lost that game, but I think we’ve turned a corner now in terms of what Arteta is doing. And I think the fans are getting on board with that. It’s going to be a great game to be at just to see the return of Mr Vieira, but for me, it’s still going to be an Arsenal win.”

Just a few hours remain to unveil what comes out of the game between Arsenal and Crystal Palace. Either way, Patrick Vieira will be a popular man on his return to the club, even though he will be in the opposition dugout.
