It was a good day at the office for Liverpool as they knocked out Tottenham Hotspur from the EFL Cup with 2 goals coming from a returning Daniel Sturridge.

Daniel Sturridge was handed a rare start and the Englishman seized the opportunity with both hands. After a difficult spell on the sidelines, Jurgen Klopp ultimately granted him a start along with a largely second string Liverpool side and it only took 8 minutes for him to justify his selection. He would later go on to double his side’s lead in the 64th minute.

We’re surely going to see a lot off Sturridge news from this account for the next week,

This game also saw another rare sight, Danny Ings getting some much needed game time.

Victor Janssen hasn’t had the best record after arriving at Tottenham in the summer. He did however, give Spurs some hope with a well taken penalty.

Youngster Divock Origi had an immense game for the Reds on the night. Despite not scoring, he was a constant threat, running the Spurs’ defence ragged with his pace and trickery.
