Arsenal managed to scrape through to a narrow 1-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor thanks to a successfully converted late penalty from Alexis Sanchez.
Turf Moor has been a fortress for Burnley throughout their Premier League journey. And as Arsenal paid a visit, it seemed they would be able to stop another top team in their tracks. The evenly contested game seemed to be heading towards a draw when Arsenal were handed a penalty late into stoppage time.
Alexis Sanchez stepped up and netted the winner to give Arsenal crucial three points in a gameweek when Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham all dropped points. The referee’s decision to award Arsenal the penalty for a foul on Aaron Ramsey was a controversial one as many pointed to it being harsh on Burnley.
Fans all over the world were undivided on the decision.
If Oumar Niasse was banned for “exaggerated dive” last week.
Aaron Ramsey exaggerated that fall for Arsenal’s penalty at Burnley today and should be banned for two games as well.

Controversial penalty to Arsenal in the 92nd. They win. No cries. Wait till a decision goes against them. Wenger will explain to us how referees are “incompetent.”

It’s a penalty. Can’t argue with that. Deserved a point but moment of stupidity cost us. Poor referee, Arsenal ordinary. Gudmundsson outstanding. Move on. #twitterclarets

Every Penalty awarded to #Arsenal is termed ”Controversial” by the British Media. They dont talk about kind penalties awarded to likes of ManCity or penalties given against AFC eg Watford. The Hate is unreal

Is every penalty now controversial or just ones Arsenal get? Just so I know.

Why werent non-Arsenal fans complaining about unfair decisions when Watford were awarded a penalty after Richarlison dived & City’s offside goal both vs Arsenal??

Replay shows a clear penalty denied for Arsenal.
Note to Arsenal supporters; just start chanting about how the opposition are “always cheating” if you want to sway the officials.

And the Media agenda has already begun. The push was clear as day, a stonewall penalty. https://t.co/WQ0HFDeJN7

However, it was Shkodran Mustafi who was the undoubted star of the match, with his towering presence at the back helping Arsenal to another clean sheet.
Mustafi has been outstanding lately. Amazing performance today, bullied Barnes all game. Made a great block too. Playing like the man we paid 35mil for.

Arsenal with Shkodran Mustafi this season: Seven games, one goal conceded.
Arsenal without Shkodran Mustafi this season: Six games, 15 goals conceded.
