Barcelona legend Ronaldinho believes that his former club can still beat arch-rivals Real Madrid in the race for the La Liga title this season.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Goal), former Barcelona and Brazil superstar Ronaldinho has claimed that the Blaugrana still have a chance to overthrow Real Madrid and clinch the La Liga title in the ongoing campaign.
Barcelona have enjoyed a stunning turnaround of fortunes in the past few months under the tutelage of manager Xavi Hernandez. The Catalans were lying in the ninth position in the La Liga table when he took over in November last year. However, he has managed to turn things around in a spectacular fashion.
Barcelona have put together a 15-game unbeaten run in La Liga, having not lost a single game since early December. That, coupled with slip-ups from Sevilla and Atletico Madrid, has seen the Catalan giants rise up to the second spot in the league table. They are currently 12 points shy of leaders Real Madrid and have a game in hand over their bitter rivals.
And Ronaldinho believes that Barcelona are still in with a shot of winning the title this term. “We are excited that Barca play well again and I think anything is possible. I hope so and as a fan I am hoping that things go well and I think there can be [a comeback],” the 42-year-old Blaugrana legend said.

Ronaldinho also hailed his former teammate Xavi for the impact he had made at the club since replacing Ronald Koeman as the permanent manager.
“Xavi has returned and has brought us hope,” he added. “As my friend and ex-team-mate, this excites people and me too. When he played, he already had a vision of the game as a coach. He guided the game and I see it very well [in his coaching] too because he makes us want to watch Barca games again.”
Ronaldinho’s comments were made before Barcelona played Levante in La Liga on Sunday night. The Catalan giants pulled off a 3-2 comeback victory against the relegation battlers to stay alive in the race for the title. But Real Madrid have shown no signs of slipping up, beating Getafe comfortably on Saturday.
