BARCELONA, SPAIN - APRIL 26: Players of FC Barcelona celebrate with their teammate Javier Mascherano after he scored their team's sixth goal during the La Liga match between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna at Camp Nou stadium on April 26, 2017 in Barcelona, Spain. (Photo by Alex Caparros/Getty Images)

Barcelona completely destroyed Osasuna on Wednesday night as they continued their push for the title in Luis Enrique’s final season in charge.

Lionel Messi was the main man once more and scored twice as the hosts kept the pace with Real Madrid, who beat Deportivo La Coruna 6-2 later on in the night to stay level on points with the Catalans.

Messi opened the scoring on the 12th minute before Andre Gomes added a second on the 30 minute mark. Roberto Torres gave the visitors hope with a goal just after half time. That hope was short-lived, however, as the hosts dismantled Osasuna with four goals in 20 minutes.

Twitter was understandably full of praise for Barcelona after a supremely dominant performance and the tributes poured in for Lionel Messi who was the star man once more, both inside the stadium as well as on Twitter.

Javier Mascherano scored his first every goal for Barcelona after the team decided to allow the Argentinian to take the penalty and the tributes, jokes and parody stats poured in.

There was plenty of surprise last night as well, as Andre Gomes got on the scoresheet while many were also taken aback by Paco Alcacer’s scoring run.
