Arsenal could open talks to sign Antoine Semenyo

Gabriel Jesus could leave Arsenal next summer, winter exit unlikely.

Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo has been linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks.

Clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the player and former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson believes that he could be a good fit for Arsenal. Robinson revealed to Football Insider that Semenyo fits the way Arsenal like to play and he could be an interesting acquisition for the Gunners.

However, he added that Arsenal are unlikely to be the only club holding talks to sign him and other Premier League clubs could make their move for the 24-year-old as well.

He’s had a really good season so far,” he told Football Insider.

“You’ve got to look at it over a longer period of time and I do think he’s a quality player.

“There’s more to come from him as well.

“When you look at how Arsenal play with three behind the main striker, he would be a good fit for all of those positions.

“Higher up in the wide areas especially, and he’s a goal threat.

“It’s clearly an area that they’re going to look at going forward, but I don’t think Arsenal will be the only side at the table holding talks with him.

“Other teams across Europe will look at the way Semenyo has been playing and his stats.

“If you look at his incredible running stats as well, they’re right up there. He works hard.

“He’s definitely a player who fits the Arteta mould.”

Semenyo has shown his quality in the Premier League with the Cherries and it is hardly a surprise that top clubs are being linked with a move for him.

He is capable of operating anywhere across the front three and he will add goals and creativity to the side. Arsenal could certainly use more depth in their attack and the 24-year-old would be a useful acquisition. The opportunity to play for Arsenal will be quite attractive for him. They are one of the biggest clubs in the country and they could help him push for major trophies every season.

On the other hand, Tottenham have been linked with the player as well, and it will be interesting to see if the North London giants decide to compete with their bitter rivals for his signature.

Semenyo might feel that this is the right time for him to take the next step in his career and join a bigger club. The likes of Arsenal and Tottenham will be attractive destinations for him. However, he has a long-term contract with Bournemouth and the Cherries could demand a premium for him.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal and Tottenham are ready to break the bank for him.
