Arnaut Danjuma not ready to rule out Liverpool move

Arnaut Danjuma does not rule out a future move to Liverpool, as he reveals a chance to play under Arne Slot at Feyenoord.

Arnaut Danjuma will not look back fondly at his time in the Premier League, following two disastrous spells at Tottenham and then Everton. Before his move to Spurs, he had agreed on a loan move to the Toffees and even completed a medical before the North Londoners hijacked a move late in January 2023.

While he barely made any inroads at Spurs, he got another opportunity to join Everton in the summer of 2023 and took the chance. He didn’t fare well at Goodison Park either, as he faded into irrelevance as the season progressed the last time out.

The former Everton player is still on the books of Villarreal, and managed to find a suitor for him in La Liga rivals Girona. Danjuma joined the Champions League side on loan, and while he has had a decent start to life there, he continues to dream of a big future possibility.

The 27-year-old barely had any interest from Premier League sides following an abysmal 18 months in England, which did not come as a surprise. He certainly has quality in him, and has many years left in him to get another shot in the English top flight.

The former Everton player now talks about previous links to Feyenoord, then managed by current Liverpool boss Arne Slot. In his comments about a potential move to Eredivisie, which appeared on FCUpdate, Danjuma did not rule out a potential future move to Liverpool should an opportunity arise. His preference to link up with Arne Slot could prove controversial, considering he has spent time on the blue end of Merseyside.

Danjuma said: “The year before (mid-2023), Feyenoord had shown a bit more interest in me. That was mainly when Arne Slot was the coach there. I considered it at the time and spoke to Slot. I am a fan of his style of play and have a lot of confidence in him as a coach. But I thought at the time that it was not the right step for me. I think Girona is also a good step now, which suits my career.”

“I come from Everton, right? “As a player, you have to be ambitious and if a big club comes, you should always consider it. I think there will be few people at the table who will say no to Liverpool.”

Danjuma, much like many players will not reject the idea of joining a club like Liverpool in the future, even with his previous stint with Everton. However, there are considerable doubts about Arne Slot making any advances for the attacker in the near future.

While he might have been someone that Arne Slot felt could improve that Feyenoord side, although that will not be his thinking at Liverpool. Hence, Danjuma could say what he wants in the media, but the chances of him even being linked with Liverpool will seem like a big thing. Overall, there’s no chance for the attacker to come again to Merseyside and join the Red side of the city.
