Barcelona emerged as the victors from a thrilling encounter at Borussia Park as they came back from behind to beat Borussia Monchengladbach 1-2 in their Champions League tie.

Goals from Thorgan Hazard, Arda Turan, Gerard Pique and and a penalty appeal ensured that the Champions League group stage tie played in front of 54,000 fans at Borussia Park was an absolute thriller.

Luis Enrique’s men were stunned by the style and confidence with which Andre Schubert’s Gladbach side started the first half in front of their home fans. They dominated the visitors and the likes of Hazard, Traore and Rafael made life extremely difficult for Mascherano & co in that first half.

Hazard would put his side up with a deserved goal in the first half, but unfortunately for the home side, that’s where it would end. The real Barcelona would show up in the second half and goals from Pique and substitute Arda Turan would ensure that the Blaugrana went back to the Nou Camp with all three points.

Funny how the “Clear handball by Pique, no penalty given to @borussia_en!” tweet is nowhere to be seen xD https://t.co/GvEkH6ILTs

Thorgan Hazard, younger brother of Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, opened the scoring after finishing off a superb counter-attacking move by Gladbach, started by Rafael.

The first half finished 1-0 to the home side, who were clearly the better team in the first half, dominating from start to finish. But, it would all fall apart for them in the second half.

Rafael was taken off minutes into the second half, and that would prove to be a huge loss in the game. Barcelona came out in the second half with a vengeance. Rafinha and Arda Turan were brought on and the Blaugrana began dominating possession and creating a host of chances. Eventually, this happened.

The Turkish international scored a thunderous right-footed volley into the roof of the net.

Then after 72nd minutes played, Gerard Pique scored the winner at Borussia Park from close range. It was a cruel way to lose for a side that had played so well.
