CA Talleres club President Andres Fassi has had his say on Liverpool’s interest in their 20-year-old centre-back Kevin Mantilla.

Liverpool are keen on reinforcing their defence, and they have their eyes set on Kevin Mantilla. The 20-year-old defensive sensation has already earned quite a reputation for himself, and numerous top clubs are after the signatures of the Colombian youth international.

Kevin Mantilla came up the ranks at Colombian club Independiente Santa Fe before joining CA Talleres last summer. The 20-year-old centre-back has had an instant impact at the Argentine club. While he has only featured in nine matches so far, there is huge potential in him and that has not gone unnoticed.

He has been a regular for the Colombian Under-20 team for a while now. Mantilla has over 20 appearances for them and was also a part of the age group World Cup last summer. While his contract with the Argentine club runs until the end of 2027, top European clubs want to sign him in the ongoing window.

Liverpool are one of the clubs interested in the 20-year-old defender, and they would love to acquire him in January. The Merseyside club do not have much depth in their backline and of late injuries have troubled them a lot. As a result, they want to invest in a young defender and feel Mantilla has all the qualities needed to succeed at their club.

Meanwhile, the president of CA Talleres, Andres Fassi has confirmed that Liverpool are monitoring the Colombian defender. Reports towards the end of 2023 suggested that the Reds along with Brighton & Hove Albion were following the 20-year-old centre-back and now his club’s president has also admitted that Jurgen Klopp’s men want him.

Fassi said via 90min, “It’s true, they have been following him for four months now. And they asked us for information about his physical records.”

The Merseyside club have been closely monitoring the 20-year-old for four months, and they have all the necessary reports and records needed to make a final call on him. While they would to sign him in the ongoing transfer window, the Argentine club’s president has already made it clear that they won’t sanction his departure in the winter.
