Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has reassured Tottenham that Antonio Conte will stick around at the club despite recent suggestions to the contrary.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, as reported by the Express, Juventus icon Alessandro Del Piero has provided reassurance to Tottenham Hotspur over the situation of manager Antonio Conte.

The Italian tactician took over the reins at the club earlier this season after Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked. While he started on a strong note, things have hit a rough patch for the Lilywhites of late as they have lost four of their last five matches.

Tottenham’s latest match ended with a 1-0 loss to Burnley, denting their top-four hopes. Speaking in the aftermath of the game, Conte insisted that he was not happy with the team’s progress, calling the recent run ‘unacceptable’. He also added that he would be willing to discuss his position as manager with the club hierarchy.

These comments came after the former Inter Milan and Chelsea boss had already expressed his displeasure over the club’s transfer business during an interview with Italian media. This has given way to speculation that the Italian manager might call it quits at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Alessandro Del Piero has tried to put those rumours to bed by stating that Conte had told him he was happy at the club. “I was in London to meet with Antonio Conte a few weeks ago – he was super happy about Tottenham, board, facilities, stadium,” Del Piero said.

The former Juventus and Italy footballer also hinted that the club’s transfer business during the January transfer window might have been a point of discontent for the manager. “I feel the problem is about players he needs to win titles,” added Del Piero. “They sold four players in Jan and only signed two.”

Despite their recent poor run, Tottenham still have a chance of finishing in the top four. As things stand, the Lilywhites are eighth in the table, seven points below Manchester United in fourth. However, the north London giants have two games in hand over the Red Devils and winning those would take them within one point of Ralf Rangnick’s side.

As for Conte, he admitted to having talks with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy after the Burnley defeat and insisted that he would do everything to help the team get out of their recent muddle. “Yes I spoke to Daniel Levy,” he said ahead of the Lilywhites’ clash against Leeds United. “Our chairman knows very well that I’m here to help the club in every moment. I will do that until the end.”
