Adam Lallana is set to renew his Liverpool deal. The in-form Englishman has become a crucial part of Jurgen Klopp’s Anfield setup and the 28-year-old could well be here for the next foreseeable years, with the midfielder on course to sign a new four-year deal.
Lallana has grown into one of the very best English attackers in the present time and the reports of his extension has brought him some cheer among the Liverpool fans, who are still reeling from a disastrous start to the new calendar year.
Lallana is class and fully deserves new contract. Struggled since coming back from injury, easily our best player this season #lallana #lfc

I’m confused as to why people are complaining that Lallana (one of our best players, like it or not) has been given a new contract??
— Tanya McShane (@tanyamcshane90) February 9, 2017
@TheLFCPoll Lallana’s worth it.

If we don’t pay lallana that money a week someone like spurs will.
— PhoLFC25 (@pho25) February 9, 2017
£150k a week is a massive amount of money but it’s what clubs are paying their best players. Adam Lallana is one of Liverpool’s best. #LFC

But, while Liverpool fans are happy about Lallana’s extension, the terms of the deal, especially the wages Lallana has been reportedly offered has come under scrutiny, with fans questioning the decision to hand Lallana such a lucrative deal.
Lallana deserves a new contract, he’s been good now for the majority of Klopp’s reign (16 months) but surprised he’s getting £150k a week ?
— Spion Klopp (@TheKopHQ) February 8, 2017
Adam Lallana has been brilliant this season, yes, but £150,000 a week is way too much for a 28 year old who’s only had one good season.

As much as I believe Lallana deserves the new contract being offered, £150,000/wk is quite a lot of money IMO.
— Bliss Andoh (@BlissAndoh) February 9, 2017
Lallana on about the same amount as Cesc lol

Offering Lallana 150k a week and making it public information. How is that going to help with other ongoing negotiations (Can, Lovren)?
— Kunal (@KloppFC) February 9, 2017
Lallana signing new 4 year contract for 150k a week, mad. Is Lallana gonna be worth 150k a week when he’s 33?!
— Kav (@SpecialKav) February 9, 2017
Lallana peaked August 2016 – December 2016. Now the club are paying him £150k a week. Good luck with that.

150k p/w for Adam Lallana?
5 years contract for a 29 year old?
I’m sick. ? pic.twitter.com/ogUysM4X9G

£150,000 a week for Lallana? He’s had about 3 exceptional months at LFC in 3 years and is nearly 29. Hmm.
— David Martinez (@DMARTINEZ_85) February 9, 2017
Liverpool fans also highlighted their club’s inability to pay such wages to attract targets to Anfield, especially Julian Draxler.
@addypenno my problem is simple; if we can offer Lallana £150,000, why didn’t we meet Draxler’s wage demand?
— Bliss Andoh (@BlissAndoh) February 9, 2017
We can offer 25m for Wijnaldum and Lallana 150k a week but we dont wanna pay for established players? Makes no sense
— Keep Sturridge! (@StevieGForcee) February 8, 2017
LFC refused to meet the demands of Draxler who wanted 170k a week, but are happy to pay Lallana 150k a week? Doesn’t make sense.. #LFC
— THE LFC POLL (@TheLFCPoll) February 9, 2017
We are currently paying Lallana Hendo Milner 420k per week and won’t overpay for the “right player”
— Dembe Zuma (@IamDembe) February 9, 2017
We’re willing to give 28 year old Adam Lallana 150k a week but weren’t for Draxler? Most backwards club I’ve ever know
