Accoring to the Daily Mail, Adam Lallana has been ruled out for a minimum of one month after picking up an injury on international duty for England, according to reports. They claim that Lallana played the full 90 minutes against Lithuania despite picking up an injury in the second half.
Since then, the midfielder’s injury has gotten progressively worse and despite undergoing treatment at Melwood, Lallana is expected to miss out against Everton and Stoke at the very least. This will come as a huge blow for Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool have been struggling since the start of the new year and Adam Lallana has been one of their best players despite this.
The midfielder has consistently put in fine performances for Liverpool and is the most hard-working player in their side, so his absence will be a big issue for them as they look to continue their fight to finish in a top four position.
It is also the second time this year that Lallana has picked up an injury on international duty, having picked up a groing injury back in November in a 2-2 draw with Spain. and Liverpool fans vented their frustration on Twitter.

Barkley sat on the bench for every min of the last 7 England games whereas we have Lallana playing 90 mins against Lithuanian shelf stackers

This is the second time Lallana has returned from England duty this season injured – in November he limped off with a groin injury vs Spain.

Two pointless England games, two starts for Adam Lallana and LFC have to suffer for 4 weeks due to injury. Terribly unfair on #LFC

Gareth Southgate was also roundly criticised for his decision to play Lallana for 90 minutes despite the match being a relative dead rubber.

If Southgate has overworked him for England.. ? pic.twitter.com/Q57iBxvzlZ

Southgate is a proper prick. How could he play Adam Lallana in both games for 90 minutes? Absolute prick.

So Gareth Southgate made Joe Gomez walk off when he’d torn his ACL and now he played Lallana when they knew he’d got injured. Nice one.

Gareth Southgate played Lallana for 65 minutes against Germany & 90 minutes against Lithuania; Burnt him out. Ross Barkley played 0 minutes.
— LFC Round Up (@LFCroundup) March 28, 2017
Shoutout to Gareth Southgate for playing Lallana for the full 90 minutes in a meaningless friendly.
— Kop Talk (@KopTalk28) March 28, 2017
If Lallana is injured, the first thing I’d do is drive down the Burton and poor hot coffee on Gareth Southgate’s balls.
— StatsAndSwearwords (@StatsSwearwords) March 28, 2017
I’m gonna give Southgate’s house a visit if he’s overworked Lallana and injured him for 4 weeks. I will shit in your fridge and I will leave

Liverpool were already debating who could replace Lallana in the side and the 17-year old Ben Woodburn was a popular name on everyone’s list.
Ben Woodburn could be an option for #LFC in CM to replace Adam Lallana. He’s played there a few times for the U23s this season.
— Glenn Price (@GlennPrice94) March 28, 2017
So Lallana out fs. Seen someone say Woodburn to replace him. Big call for the derby. Likely either Hendo back in and Can pushed forward…
— David green (@ThatGreenFellow) March 28, 2017
@StudgeIsMyMate I’m not so sure on Woodburn. But I can’t think of any other position in which someone can take Lallana’s place…
— Adam (@LongShotCou) March 28, 2017
How about Marko Grujic for Lallana?difficult option for Klopp,Ben Woodburn and option also?
— normz (@liverliver10) March 28, 2017
Lallana misses derby, would love Woodburn play a part on Saturday
— Sam (@samlivesleylfc) March 28, 2017
Woodburn and TAA will have big parts to play now for the rest of the season starting Saturday now Lallana is out.
