Manchester United could be dealt a blow in their pursuit of highly rated Fabian Hurzeler, who is happy at Brighton & Hove Albion.
According to Football Insider, Manchester United may have little chance of signing Hurzeler, as the German coach is not pushing to leave Brighton & Hove Albion. He is currently leading an exciting project at the Amex Stadium, which could convince him to stay and force the Red Devils to look elsewhere for a suitable replacement for Michael Carrick.
Carrick continues to headline Manchester United’s problems, with the current Old Trafford boss considered to be walking on thin ice. The former English midfielder has failed to transform the club since taking the job permanently, having overseen only two wins in all competitions this season.
Manchester United are not considering sacking him immediately, although it could be only a matter of time, particularly if results do not improve. Several options are reportedly being discussed in the background, with media reports already linking the club with Julian Nagelsmann, Eddie Howe and Unai Emery, while Antonio Conte is also viewed as one of the leading candidates for the position.
Manchester United are also reportedly interested in Hurzeler, which has alerted Brighton to the possibility of losing their highly rated Premier League manager midway through the season. However, the Seagulls remain relaxed about the German’s immediate future, while the 33-year-old himself is believed to be happy at the Amex.
Manchester United to miss out on Fabian Hurzeler?
Hurzeler is currently leading one of the most exciting projects in English football and has guided Brighton to an impressive start to the season. The Seagulls sit third in the Premier League following a superb 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace at the weekend, while Hurzeler continues to improve the team in every area of the pitch.
Brighton are currently the Premier League’s top scorers, while they also share the best defensive record with Arsenal. There are new heights for the Seagulls to reach this season, especially if the highly rated manager can maintain the consistency required to keep them competing near the top of the table.
Hurzeler is reportedly happy at Brighton, and there have been suggestions that Manchester United may have to pay a significant fee to sign him. Even if there is a temptation for any manager to take charge at Old Trafford, neither Hurzeler nor Brighton currently appear interested in ending their relationship.
The German tactician’s contract with Brighton runs until 2029, giving the club a strong negotiating position. The Seagulls have also received no formal approach from Manchester United, meaning the speculation has not yet developed into an active transfer process.
Manchester United may therefore have to look elsewhere for the right candidate if Carrick is dismissed. Hurzeler is expected to remain on the radar of several major clubs in the future, but for now, the Red Devils appear set to miss out on the German manager.
