Tottenham considers Eddie Howe to become their next permanent manager, but faces a challenging task to lure him away from Newcastle United.
According to Team Talk, Eddie Howe is one of the prominent names on the Tottenham Hotspur managerial list. The north Londoners are ready to cast a wider net in the market to secure their next permanent boss, and they will face plenty of challenges to lure the League Cup winner from Newcastle United.
Tottenhama re going through one of their toughest period in decades, as they are staring down the barrel of a potential relegation fight. With only 2 wins from their last 16 games in the Premier League, the north Londoners sit 16th in the standings, with only five points separating them from 18th-placed West Ham.
Spurs sacked manager Thomas Frank recently following the defeat to Newcastle United, and went about appointing Igor Tudor on an interim basis. The Croatian is not seen as a long-term candidate for the job, something the club have made clear while bringing the former Juventus boss to north London.
Mauricio Pochettino remains the favourite for the job as per multiple reports, but Spurs are casting a wider net in the market to gauge potential candidates. One thing the club might seek is a highly experienced manager of Premier League pedigree, and there are only a few of that kind.
One of them is Eddie Howe, with the Newcastle United boss revered for his tremendous work at Tyneside since taking over in 2022. The English manager has been instrumental in the rise of the Magpies from a relegation struggler to a Champions League club, as Spurs might be interested in making an approach for the League Cup winner.
Is Eddie Howe to Spurs possible?
Despite some faltering results under his belt that cast doubts on Howe’s future at Tyneside, Newcastle United are not planning on sacking him. The League Cup winner has a long-term contract at St James Park and might prefer to continue there for as long as possible.
The idea of signing for a top London-based club like Tottenham will be enticing enough for any manager, but at the moment, Newcastle United are not too far away from Spurs. For now, the idea of bringing Howe seems extremely difficult, but Tottenham might approach it if they were encouraged about getting him
