Christopher Vivell pushing to bring Julian Nagelsmann to Manchester United

Manchester United chief Christopher Vivell wants to bring former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann to Old Trafford.

Following the sacking of Ruben Amorim, Manchester United are on the lookout for a new manager. For now, they are looking to bring in a caretaker who can take charge until the end of the season, when big-name targets become available.

Michael Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are two leading candidates to take charge of Manchester United on an interim basis. While the Premier League giants are busy bringing in a temporary replacement, they are also on the lookout for their next permanent boss.

O’Rourke on Manchester United links with Nagelsmann

According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, the Red Devils’ head of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, wants to appoint Julian Nagelsmann as their permanent boss next summer.

While speaking about United’s managerial situation, O’Rourke said, “I think United really do want to bring in a top class manager. They don’t want to rush into anything so the interim manager will allow them time to look at candidates. There are a number of people United are looking at for this job.

“I know Christopher Vivell is a big fan of Julian Nagelsmann as well. He, potentially, could become available after the World Cup when he leads Germany over in the United States, and is another name high on their list.

“But for now, they’re going to take their time and try to find the best man to get United back on track, competing for honours and finding consistency. There’s been too many managerial changes at Old Trafford over the years, and it’s vital that INEOS get this one right.“

Why do Manchester United want Julian Nagelsmann?

Christopher Vivell is a massive admirer of the former Bayern Munich boss and believes he could be available to take the job at Old Trafford next summer after leading Germany at the World Cup. While the 38-year-old’s contract with the national team runs until the summer of 2028, Julian Nagelsmann could look to secure an early exit to return to club management.

The young manager has an impressive track record in German football, having done wonders for Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich. He won the Bundesliga as well as two German Super Cups during his time at Bayern. So, he certainly has the winning experience that United want.

More importantly, Vivell has worked with Julian Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig back in the day. The duo enjoy a strong relationship, which would help his case in securing the job. However, the German tactician is not the only name on their wishlist; they do have other top targets, and there are other influential figures at United who will have a big say on who becomes their next boss.

Nagelsmann is considered one of the best young managers in the world, and given the kind of success he has had in his short career, landing him will certainly be a coup. But it won’t be that straightforward.
