Fulham want to agree new deal with Marco Silva before the year ends

Fulham are looking to secure Marco Silva’s long-term future with a new deal before the end of the year, despite being linked with Brendan Rodgers.

Despite the poor start to the season, Fulham are set to back Marco Silva all the way. According to Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider, the Cottagers are looking to agree a new deal with the Portuguese manager before the end of the year. The West London outfit want his long-term future secured before the winter transfer window, as they make plans to bolster their squad in January.

Silva has done wonders for Fulham since taking charge back in 2021. While he has had a massive impact at the club, things have not been that great for him this season. The Cottagers are 15th in the league, having won just four out of their 12 outings.

Their inconsistent performances have resulted in a lot of talk about their future. While Fulham were already in talks with him regarding a potential new deal, reports suggested they could still end up parting ways with him if results don’t go their way.

However, it seems the Cottagers are set to back the Portuguese manager for as long as possible. They intend to continue renewal talks with Silva’s camp, want to reach an agreement before the end of the year.

Pete O’Rourke’s take on Marco Silva’s future

While speaking about Silva’s situation, O’Rourke said, “A three-year deal is on the table and there is confidence within the Fulham camp that Silva will pledge his future to the club.

“Silva could walk away on a free and obviously nobody at Fulham wants that to happen, they want to keep hold of Marco Silva in the long term. Fulham don’t want this dragging on into the new year.

“They’d rather get it done so they know where everyone stands and then Fulham can build ahead and look forward to the next two transfer windows. With the manager’s future tied up, they hope that then they can build on that.”

Brendan Rodgers remains on Fulham’s wishlist

With things not going their way, reports suggested Fulham could part ways with Silva. The London club have been linked with former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who is looking for his next gig since leaving Celtic.

While Rodgers remains on their wishlist, they are not looking to replace Marco Silva. The former Liverpool and Leicester City boss is a backup option in case the Portuguese manager ends up leaving the club upon the expiry of his contract.

Fulham have no intention of letting the 28-year-old leave at the end of the season. Despite their poor performances this season, the Cottagers have complete trust in Silva, and they are working hard to secure his long-term future.

There is a three-year deal on the table for Silva, and Fulham are confident that he will put pen to paper. They just want it done and dusted before the January transfer window, as they have plans to bolster their squad to help him get things back on track.
