Former Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is keen on securing a Premier League return and has held informal talks with Nottingham Forest.
According to Ben Jacobs, Ange Postecoglou, who parted ways with Tottenham at the end of last season, could be set for an immediate return to management. He is keen to continue in the Premier League, and Nottingham Forest are reportedly interested in giving him that opportunity.
The Tricky Trees’ owner, Evangelos Marinakis, has held informal talks with the Australian manager and informed him about a potential vacancy at his club. While Nuno Espirito Santo has done wonders for Nottingham Forest, his future is up in the air because of his relationship with the owner, as well as the new sporting director, Edu.
Nottingham Forest to sack Nuno Espirito Santo?
According to talkSPORT, Nottingham Forest could sack Espirito Santo after their fixture against Crystal Palace on Sunday. While the Portuguese manager has done a great job for them on the pitch, he has had a public fallout with the club’s owner.
While those issues were resolved to an extent, things went from bad to worse following his dramatic press conference on Friday, where Nuno talked about his deteriorating relationship with Marinakis.
It has angered the owner, who called in an emergency meeting to discuss the future of the 51-year-old. There is a high possibility of him being shown the exit door, irrespective of what happens against the Eagles.
Apart from his relationship with the owner, he also has a rift with Edu. The two are not fully aligned on the club’s recruitment strategy. With Espirito Santo’s future up in the air, Nottingham Forest have started making moves to bring in a potential replacement.
Ange Postecoglou could replace Nuno Espirito Santo
Ange Postecoglou is believed to be very high on their wishlist. The former Tottenham boss shares a great bond with Marinakis, who has reached out to him to offer him the role. While there have not been any formal talks just yet, the Australian manager has been informed about a potential opening.
Since he favours a return to the Premier League, there is a strong chance he would agree to take over if Espirito Santo is sacked. Postecoglou’s second season at Spurs was far from ideal as they finished 17th in the league, but the fact that he ended their long wait for silverware by winning the Europa League suggests he could be a strong replacement.
