Tottenham do not want to waste time in sealing managerial appointment

Tottenham are not keen to delay a new managerial appointment and bring the new man in well before the transfer window opens on June 1.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are eager to find a solution to their managerial situation swiftly should they end up sacking Ange Postecoglou. The Australian has had a troubled season in North London, and Daniel Levy wants to bring a new man in well before the transfer window opens.

June 1 is when the summer transfer window opens as most of the clubs would have plans in place about the players they want for their respective squads. In Tottenham’s case, they are now planning on how they want to deal with the future of their manager, as Ange Postecoglou has come under tremendous pressure.

Tottenham had developed doubts about the Australian during a disastrous season. Spurs recently lost their most recent game in the Premier League against Wolves, which was also their 17th defeat of the season, meaning Postecoglou has lost more than half the games he has managed this season in the league alone.

Tottenham could potentially sack Postecoglou this week if Tottenham crashes out of the Europa League on Thursday. If they do manage to go through to the semifinals ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt, he could be allowed more time in a bid to win the competition and mark Spurs’ return to the Champions League for next season.

Spurs have set sights on several high-profile names as replacements for Postecoglou including Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner among others. Iraola is likely to reject Tottenham’s overtures and commit his future at Bournemouth, while Crystal Palace are also keen to offer Glasner a new contract to ward off suitors like the North London giants.

Tottenham do not wish to waste time on managerial appointment

The managerial appointment at Spurs will be tricky if they end up sacking Postecoglou. Many of their targets will be waiting to see how they fare in the Europa League, as Tottenham will have better profiles if they are in the Champions League. In the last two or three managerial appointments often the club have wasted a lot of time in bringing in a new man, something Daniel Levy wants to avoid this time out.

Tottenham could even explore abroad for a solution, as Levy wants to bring in a manager early, well in time before the transfer market opens on June 1. Hence, it will be an interesting period at the club, as the timing of Postecoglou’s now inevitable-looking exit will be key to determining how soon they can get a replacement.
