Predicted Liverpool lineup against Aston Villa: Nunez in for Jota; Gakpo misses out

Darwin Nunez will replace Diogo Jota in the Liverpool starting lineup against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Wednesday.

Aston Villa have failed to pick up a win in the last four Premier League matches, and Unai Emery will demand a strong reaction from his players. Meanwhile, Liverpool got back to winning ways against Wolves in their last outing, and it will be interesting to see if they can build on that performance when they face off with the West Midlands club at Villa Park on Wednesday.

This is a vital away game for the Merseyside outfit, and they cannot afford to drop points with Arsenal breathing down their necks. Liverpool will be hoping to win the Premier League title this season, and they will need to grind out wins against tough opposition.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can step up and get the job done away from home. Aston Villa have the quality to trouble them, and the visitors can afford to be complacent. Liverpool will be without Joe Gomez, Cody Gakpo and Tyler Morton due to their respective injuries. During his pre-match press conference, Arne Slot provided a fitness update on players.

The Liverpool manager said, “I think both are not available for tomorrow. Cody is close to being back and Joe will take quite a long time. He is going to be out for numerous weeks because of a hamstring injury.”

Liverpool will start in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Aston Villa, with Alisson Becker in goal. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will start as the full-backs, and they will look to contribute at both ends of the pitch. Ibrahima Konate will form the central defensive pairing alongside Virgil van Dijk.

As for the midfield unit, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister will add control and defensive cover to the side. Dominik Szoboszlai will add creativity and drive to the midfield from the number ten role.

Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz will start on the flanks, and they will look to create goalscoring opportunities for their teammates and find the back of the net themselves. Finally, Darwin Nunez will lead the line for Liverpool against Aston Villa on Wednesday.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Nunez
