Predicted Liverpool lineup against Leicester City: Jota in for Gakpo; Nunez also on bench

Diogo Jota will replace Cody Gakpo in the Liverpool starting lineup against Leicester City at Anfield on Thursday night.

Liverpool are coming into the game against Leicester City at Anfield on Thursday night on the back of a comprehensive victory over Tottenham Hotspur in their last outing, and they will be full of confidence.

The home side do not have many injury concerns heading into the Boxing Day clash at Anfield. As per Arne Slot during his pre-match press conference, the Merseyside outfit will be without Conor Bradley (hamstring) and Ibrahima Konate (knee), as the two players look to recover from their respective injury problems. Other than that, Slot will have a fully fit squad to choose from against Leicester City on Boxing Day.

The Liverpool manager said, “These are the two that are still ‘in the red’… they are on their way back, but they don’t [fully] train with the team yet. Sometimes, they join, and then they are not completely ready to start yet. So, let’s wait and see.”

Alisson Becker will start in goal as the Reds shape up in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will start in the full-back areas. They will look to keep things compact at the back and help out in the attack as well. Joe Gomez will start in central defence alongside club captain Virgil van Dijk.

In the midfield pivot, Alexis Mac Allister will start alongside Ryan Gravenberch. They will look to add composure, control and defensive work rate to the side. Dominik Szoboszlai will start in the attacking midfield role, and he will look to influence the game in the final third with his creativity and goal-scoring ability.

Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz will start on the flanks, with Diogo Jota leading the line. The Portuguese International has regained some match fitness and he is likely to be handed a start here.

Probable Lineup (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Jota
