Manchester United secure verbal agreement with Ruben Amorim

Manchester United have secured a verbal agreement with top managerial target Ruben Amorim, as it will take a €10 million fee to appoint him.

According to Ben Jacobs, Manchester United have moved swiftly towards their preferred managerial target and have found a verbal agreement with Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese is seen as the ideal man to replace Erik ten Hag, who was sacked earlier in the day.

Manchester United are moving swiftly to secure a top-notch replacement for Erik ten Hag. The Red Devils parted company with the Dutchman earlier in the day, as the news broke following the team’s latest loss to West Ham United at the weekend.

The Red Devils have since made Ruud van Nistelrooy the interim boss, while Ten Hag’s staff will be in place at least until further changes aren’t in place. Manchester United are not about to wait longer for a new manager, as they have moved into the market with intent with one of their top targets for the job.

Manchester United enquired about Ruben Amorim a few days ago as Ten Hag’s job came under scrutiny. Now, they have made contact with the Sporting CP manager and his club with the intent of finding an agreement to bring the 39-year-old manager to Old Trafford.

Despite suggestions that Amorim was not interested in a mid-season move, the Portuguese have reportedly agreed verbally with Manchester United. He’s keen, and talks could accelerate in the coming period as it will take a reported €10 million to release him from his Sporting CP contract.

Is Amorim a good choice for Manchester United?

In the era of tactical nous and challenge at the very top, Manchester United are eager to be among the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal to challenge for the title. They are far below in that pecking order as of now, as the idea of appointing ASmorim at the helm is designed to bring them back to the top.

Amorim was also on Manchester City’s list to potentially replace Pep Guardiola next summer. However, Manchester United’s verbal agreement with the 39-year-old manager will be a massive statement of intent from INEOS, which is under tremendous pressure to get its managerial appointment right.
