Manchester United rule out Vincenzo Montella interest

Manchester United have been linked with a move for 50-year-old Spanish manager Vincenzo Montella, who currently manages Turkiye.

Vincenzo Montella has done quite well for the Turkish national team and they impressed under his management in the recently concluded European Championships. According to TEAMtalk,  Manchester United were looking at him as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag.

However, the report states that Manchester United have now ruled out a move for the 50-year-old. It will be interesting to see if they look at other options to replace the Dutch manager.

Manchester United have made a mediocre start to the season and a club of their stature should be doing better. They have backed the manager significantly in recent seasons and he has spent over £600 million on new signings. However, Manchester United have not been able to challenge the likes of Arsenal or Manchester City. They were expected to push for major trophies this season but they are nowhere close to competing for the league title.

Given their recent performances, a top-four qualification is in doubt as well. It will be interesting to see if Erik ten Hag can turn things around and hold on to his job. The Manchester United hierarchy is clearly losing patience with him and they are thought to be looking at a number of managerial options. It will be interesting to see who they end up with.

Man United need to bring in a proven manager to replace Erik ten Hag

Manchester United need to bring in a quality manager who has proven himself at the highest level and has won major trophies.

Montella could have been an interesting acquisition for them. The 50-year-old would have been tempted to join a big club like Manchester United if the opportunity had presented itself.

Meanwhile, the Manchester United manager is currently on thin ice and he could be shown the door if the results do not improve drastically. They have a quality squad at their disposal and it remains to be seen whether Ten Hag can get the best out of his players.
