Former Chelsea Technical Director Christopher Vivell is reportedly all set to join Manchester United on a short-term basis.
According to Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have managed to make another important addition to their new-look recruitment team. They have struck a deal with Christopher Vivell, who is all set to join the club with immediate effect as their new Director of Recruitment.
Major changes at Manchester United
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have made quite a few changes at Old Trafford since taking charge of the club post their minority takeover. They have brought in Jason Wilcox to be their new Technical Director and have recently struck a deal with Newcastle United to acquire the services of Dan Ashworth, who will be their Sporting Director.
Apart from the key changes in their management, they are closing in on a new deal with Erik ten Hag and working to make Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake a part of the Dutch manager’s backroom staff.
While they have already made quite a few important additions, the Red Devils were working hard to bring in someone who could help them with their transfers on an immediate basis. Ratcliffe wants someone who has the experience and a proven record.
Christopher Vivell to join Manchester United
Christopher Vivell, who had parted ways with Chelsea around a year back and was looking to make a return, caught the attention of Manchester United. While he was only a part of the Blues for seven months, he did a great job at RB Leipzig back in the day.
He has the experience of working in a multi-club setup, something that might be an advantage given Manchester United now have a similar setup under Ratcliffe and INEOS. They were working on a deal to sign the 37-year-old and according to Plettenberg, Vivell is all set to take charge as their new Director of Recruitment.
He will start working from the get-go as Manchester United look to make the key changes to their squad this summer. All paperwork is in place and only the work permit is missing, and once that is taken care of, he will start his stint at Old Trafford. The former Chelsea transfer guru has penned down a short-term deal with the Red Devils and is expected to be around for just two transfer windows.
