Fabrizio Romano rules out the possibility of Liverpool target Ruben Amorim taking the West Ham United job.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim is unlikely to be the new West Ham United manager despite recent links. While the Hammers are pushing hard to appoint the 39-year-old, the Liverpool target doesn’t seem to be interested in taking charge of the London club.
Ruben Amorim’s work at the Portuguese club has put him on the radar of multiple top clubs. He took charge of Sporting back in 2020 and has transformed them into a winning machine. They have won multiple titles under his guidance and are on course to clinch the league title.
While his contract with Sporting runs until the summer of 2026, he could make a move to a bigger club in the summer. Liverpool are one of the clubs keen on appointing him as their next boss. The Merseyside club have made him their priority target to replace Jurgen Klopp who has decided to end his stint at Anfield.
The Reds have been working hard to make it happen but the talks have hit a standstill. While talks with Liverpool are on a stand the 39-year-old has been approached by West Ham United. The Hammers are looking for a potential replacement for David Moyes.
They feel Amorim could be an ideal fit for the club. His style of play could help them take the next step. As a result, they have been working on his appointment. The Portuguese manager travelled to London to discuss the West Ham job.
As per a report by A Bola via SportWitness, the Hammers are ready to offer the 39-year-old much better terms than Liverpool. They are also willing to give the Sporting boss the power to design a squad of his liking. Despite all the efforts from their end, the Portuguese manager is unlikely to take the West Ham job as per Romano.
But, it seems the talks haven’t gone according to plan. The transfer expert believes that the discussion between the two parties are unlikely to advance after initial talks. Amorim will not be seen as a West Ham manager next season.
