DFB are interested in hiring Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as Germany’s next head coach before the Euro 2024.

According to a report by 90min, DFB are keen on having Jurgen Klopp as Germany’s next manager. The German national team recently parted ways with Hansi Flick and are now looking to replace him with another world-class manager as they prepare to host the Euro 2024.

Flick took charge of the German team back in August 2021. He was handed over the role on the back of his impressive work at Bayern Munich. The 58-year-old was expected to guide them to glory but things didn’t go according to plan.

The former Bayern Munich manager led them to the FIFA World Cup 2022. They were expected to be one of the challengers for the title. But, they couldn’t even make it past the Group Stage. It was a huge disappointment given the kind of squad they had.

Flick still managed to retain his role and he was given time to bounce back with the Euro 2024 approaching. But, things didn’t work out as they have been winless in their last five matches. Following their 4-1 defeat at the hands of Japan, the former Bayern boss has become the first Germany manager in history to be sacked.

Following his departure, the DFB have been on the look for a new manager. And, they have their eyes set on Jurgen Klopp. The German manager has been at Liverpool since 2015 and he has won every major trophy at the Merseyside club.

The German Football Association is keen on having the 56-year-old as their new boss. Germany are all set to host the Euro 2024 and they want to have a manager on their bench who can help them win the European Championship on their home turf.

Klopp has an exceptional track record at club level and they believe he could do wonders for them. But, the former Borussia Dortmund manager has a contract at Liverpool that runs until 2026. And, with the season already underway, he is unlikely to leave them midway.

As a result, the German Football Association are ready to allow him to see out the 2023-24 season with the Merseyside club before taking the job on a full-time basis just before Euro 2024. Meanwhile, they do have a few other options shortlisted in case an agreement with Klopp can’t be struck.
