Thomas Tuchel has set a condition before accepting Tottenham job

Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel puts forward his demand as Tottenham Hotspur look to make him their new manager.

According to a report by Football Insider, Thomas Tuchel has put forward his condition before joining Tottenham Hotspur. The former Chelsea boss will only join the London club if Spurs manage to secure a top-four finish in the ongoing season.

Tottenham have had a difficult few weeks. Antonio Conte’s team haven’t been able to live up to the expectations and the board has started to look for alternatives.

They believe that Thomas Tuchel could be a great fit for the club. However, people at Spurs are aware that the German manager will only join them if they secure Champions League football for next season.

Tuchel was in charge of Chelsea for over 18 months before he got sacked by new Blues owner Todd Boehly. While things didn’t really end well for the German manager at Stamford Bridge, he did have a lot of success before parting ways with the club.

The 49-year-old took charge of the Blues back in the winter of 2021. He replaced club legend Frank Lampard to become their new boss. And, within his first season at the club, he created history by helping them win the UEFA Champions League title. The Blues also managed to finish inside the top three of the Premier League.

However, things didn’t work out that well for the German tactician in the ongoing season. The Blues couldn’t manage to get off the blocks early and the owner decided to part ways with Tuchel. The former Chelsea boss is on the lookout for a new job.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are one of the clubs that are interested in his services. But, they are aware of the fact that he will only be willing to join them if they manage to secure Champions League football.

Spurs are currently fourth in the Premier League, they are on course for a top-four finish. But, their form of late has been a concern. Any kind of slip-up at this stage could cost them a top-four spot.

Antonio Conte hasn’t lived up to the expectations so far and his side’s defeat at the hands of AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League has increased the pressure on the current Spurs boss. It will be interesting to see if they sack Conte and manage to land Tuchel in the coming weeks.
