Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard is on the verge of extending his stay with the club following a breakthrough season.

As per a report in Fichajes, Arsenal are set to tie down Martin Odegaard to a long-term contract to fend off suitors. The 24-year-old has a contract that runs down in 2025.

Arsenal have been in a rampaging mode this season and Odegaard has been a central plan to their setup. The former Real Madrid midfielder has become an inevitable part of Mikel Arteta’s plans and the manager wants to keep his core group intact for the foreseeable future.

Odegaard arrived in North London first in the summer of 2021 when he was brought in on a loan deal. The Norwegian impressed at the Emirates and the club decided to invest heavily in the player.

It has turned out to be pretty worthy as the midfielder has been pulling strings to keep the play ticking through various adversities. The Gunners are contemplating offering new deals to a few key players but Odegaard is being seen as a priority.

The player currently earns in the region of €6 million and the new offer should see him at par with the highest players at the club. He is expected to pocket €10 million roughly should he put pen to paper on a new contract.

With seven goals and five assists to his name he has been Arsenal’s chief architect in the Premier League and he is likely to extend his association with the club for a few more years. He has also been handed the armband for this season.

Alongside Odegaard, Arteta wants to offer new contracts to Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba in a bid to sustain their bright future. Arteta is drawing up an ambitious project and the manager is pretty close to implementing his philosophy at the club with utter precision.

Odegaard had a loan stint with Real Sociedad and later went on to join Arsenal. In years to come, the Gunners could definitely be the title challengers quite consistently and the 24-year-old will be a key player for them.
