Fred is in line to return while there may be starts for youngsters Hannibal Mejbri and Alvaro Fernandez when Manchester United face Brentford.

Manchester United will be aiming to pick up a victory in their final home game of the season when they play hosts to Brentford at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Monday night.

Heading up to the game, Manchester United have several injury issues as Paul Pogba, Jadon Sancho, Luke Shaw, Edinson Cavani, Harry Maguire and Fred all missed the last clash against Chelsea. Jesse Lingard also missed the previous game due to personal reasons. But, interim boss Ralf Rangnick was hopeful that some of the players could be back for the visit of Brentford.

“Right now, I don’t know but I hope Fred will make it for the Brentford game. As it seems, Jadon might be out for the rest of the season with his tonsillitis, so he will most likely be unavailable against Brentford. Apart from that, we have to wait and see. Harry Maguire, Jesse was missing for personal, family reasons today. I hope that some of those players will be back on Monday,” Rangnick said in his presser.

The German tactician could make some changes to the side that started against Chelsea. There could be a chance for youngsters while some of the players who will move on in the summer could get a chance to bid adieu to the home supporters.

Dean Henderson could get a look-in in goal having hardly played this season. No major alterations are expected in defence, with Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof pairing up at the centre. Diogo Dalot should continue at right-back, but there could be a change on the left side, where young Alvaro Fernandez could make his first start in place of Alex Telles.

With Fred likely to be available, the Brazilian should get the nod in the middle of the park in place of Scott McTominay, who was poor against Chelsea. Nemanja Matic should hold on to his place in the starting XI as he deserves an opportunity to say goodbye to the fans in what is likely to be his last home game for Manchester United.

Given Bruno Fernandes’s struggles in recent games, he should drop out of the side, making way for youngster Hannibal Mejbri, who made a good impression in his cameo against Liverpool. Jesse Lingard, should he become available, could also make an appearance from the bench as his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Juan Mata has added some spark in the final third of the pitch each time he has come off the bench in recent games. The veteran playmaker should feature from kick-off on Monday on the right flank in what could be his final home game for the Red Devils as well.

Cristiano Ronaldo should feature as the No. 9 as usual, while Anthony Elanga should slot it on the left. Youngsters like Alejandro Garnacho and Shola Shoretire could get some minutes.
