Ferland Mendy is set to miss out but Eduardo Camavinga could be in line for a start when Real Madrid face off against Getafe in La Liga this weekend.
Real Madrid will be looking to tighten their grip on the top spot in the La Liga table when they lock horns with Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night. Heading into the game, Real Madrid have a new roster concern as Ferland Mendy is set to miss out due to fatigue. He joins Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard out on the sidelines.
Confirming the same in his pre-match presser, Carlo Ancelotti said, “He hasn’t trained today. He’s still tired and we decided that he should do some individual work in the pool and gym. He’s not injured, we’ll have a look at him tomorrow. If he’s not still tired, he’ll be ready for Tuesday’s game. Jovic still has problems with his ankle but the rest of the players are doing well. After the operation, Hazard is recovering independently.”
Real Madrid could make a few changes to the side that took the field against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the UEFA Champions League, especially with the second leg against the Blues coming up on Tuesday night.
Dani Carvajal, who has had fitness issues this season, could be given a breather, with Lucas Vazquez coming in at right-back. Nacho should slot in at left-back in the absence of Mendy. Eder Militao and David Alaba should continue their centre-back partnership, though, while Thibaut Courtois will guard the goal for the home team.
There should be changes in the middle of the park as well. Luka Modric covered the most distance of all Real Madrid players in the game against Chelsea. Given his age, the Croatian international deserves a break to recharge his batteries ahead of the second leg tie against Chelsea. The same would hold for his midfield partner Toni Kroos as well.
It should pave the way for Eduardo Camavinga to get the nod in the middle of the park against Getafe. Federico Valverde, who was deployed on the right flank in the midweek encounter, should be reinstated to a role in central midfield. Casemiro ought to continue at the base of the three-man unit for Los Blancos against Getafe on Saturday.
With Valverde moving into midfield, the berth on the right flank is up for grabs, with Marco Asensio likely to step into the lineup ahead of Rodrygo Goes. Karim Benzema, who stole the show against Chelsea, will spearhead the Real Madrid attack, as usual, while Vinicius Junior slots in on the left flank against Getafe.
Real Madrid Predicted XI: Courtois, Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Nacho, Valverde, Casemiro, Camavinga, Asensio, Benzema, Vinicius Jr.
