Everton are reportedly among three Premier League clubs keeping tabs on promising 18-year-old non-league talent Steven Ngunga.

According to Football Insider, Merseyside giants Everton are among three Premier League clubs keeping a close watch on Rising Ballers FC starlet Steven Ngunga.

The 18-year-old is one of the finest players at the non-league side and continues to attract attention thanks to his performances. Ngunga’s abilities are gaining a growing audience, and he even underwent a trial at Belgian club Standard Liege.

That is not to say that teams closer to home are unaware of the player’s calibre. Apart from Everton, Brentford and Watford are also keeping a close watch on the player’s progress. A left-back by trade, he has shown enough potential to suggest that a career in the top flight could be on offer. Several other Premier League and Championship sides also continue to monitor the player.

The 18-year-old has already been compared to Brighton sensation Tariq Lamptey, one of the Premier League’s best young full-backs. Ngunga has some ways to go before he scales similar heights, but given his ability on the ball and physicality, the youngster does have the tools required to make the jump up in class.

The teenage sensation is expected to undergo trials at Everton, Watford and Brentford soon. Frank Lampard’s arrival at Everton has heralded a new dawn for the Merseyside club, who continue to be in the shadow of their more illustrious neighbours, Liverpool FC.

The Chelsea legend’s appointment prompted a flurry of transfer activity on deadline day as Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek arrived at Goodison Park. Lampard showed during his time at Chelsea that he is open to giving young players a chance. Ngunga could be in good hands should he choose to move to Everton.

Given that the youngster plays for a non-league side, there are no restrictions regarding the timeframe of his transfer. Premier League clubs are permitted to sign players from outside the professional leagues at any time in the year.

Everton can offer the youngster an excellent package that is financially lucrative and can also aid his development on the field. Effective full-backs are worth their weight in gold in the modern game, and Everton could potentially land a top prospect.

The Toffees sold Lucas Digne in the January transfer window before bringing in Vitaly Mykolenko. The left-back spot could do with some depth, and securing Ngunga could help achieve that. While the youngster will need some time to get used to the level, he could develop into a handy player if nurtured right.
