Premier League giants Liverpool are reportedly confident of acquiring the services of Jude Bellingham next summer.

If a report from Caught Offside is to be believed, Liverpool have prioritised a move for Jude Bellingham in the summer transfer window. The Premier League giants are confident they can lure the Borussia Dortmund prodigy to Merseyside in the summer summer despite competition from other league rivals such as Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

A product of the Birmingham City youth academy, Bellingham is regarded as one of the most elite teenagers in world football. At the age of just 18, the youngster has established himself as a first-team regular for the club, racking up 71 competitive appearances in just 18 months. He is even considered among the club’s leadership group due to his maturity and aggressive mentality.

In addition to his exploits in the Bundesliga, Bellingham has already won ten caps for the English national team. He is almost destined to be a part of the England squad for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup to be played later this year.

The youngster’s rapid rise to prominence has not gone unnoticed either, with Liverpool prepared to make him a priority target next summer. It appears the 18-year-old has been identified as an ideal long-term replacement for the ageing leader Jordan Henderson.

Liverpool believe they can lure the player to a move to Merseyside by offering him the opportunity to play alongside experienced leaders like Henderson, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara. The player himself is a self-confessed fan of Liverpool great Steven Gerrard and might be drawn to a move to Anfield.

However, the Reds are set to face multiple obstacles in their pursuit of Bellingham in the summer. Apart from stiff competition from Bayern Munich, the English international is set to cost a fortune given his unrivalled potential and leadership qualities that are extremely rare for anyone his age.

Perhaps more importantly, Bellingham is happy with his life in Dortmund. He has already become a cult hero at the Signal Iduna Park and has high regard for the club’s footballing tradition and fan culture. The youngster even extended his contract in the summer, with his new deal running until 2025.

The Black and Yellows have no intention of offloading Bellingham anytime soon, as they are in a healthy financial position. Liverpool, therefore, may have to remain patient in their pursuit of the 18-year-old Englishman, although the Reds have identified quite a few alternatives, including Barcelona sensation Gavi.
