Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich are reportedly in discussions over a possible swap deal involving Tanguy Ndombele and Corentin Tolisso.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich are holding talks over a potential swap deal involving French midfield duo Tanguy Ndombele and Corentin Tolisso in the January transfer window.
Ndombele joined Tottenham in the summer of 2019 in a club-record deal. But, he has found it tough going in England, struggling to carve out a place for himself in the starting XI under all the managers he has played, be it Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Ryan Mason, Nuno Espirito Santo or now Antonio Conte.
Given that he does not feature prominently in the plans of the Italian tactician, Tottenham are seriously considering parting ways with the former Olympique Lyon midfielder in January. Now, Bayern Munich have expressed an interest in taking the midfielder off the Lilywhites’ hands in the upcoming transfer window.
The German champions are on the lookout for reinforcements in the middle of the park as Corentin Tolisso is out of contract at the end of the season. And, they have identified Ndombele as a potential replacement for the Frenchman. And, in order to make the deal happen, the Bavarian giants are reportedly willing to offer Tolisso to Tottenham as part of the deal.
Tolisso, who has been in Germany for over four years now, has had an injury-riddled tenure at the Allianz Arena. However, when fit and available, he can be a quality operator in the centre of the park. Vastly experienced, the 27-year-old was also part of the France team that lifted the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Reports last month had indicated that Tottenham Hotspur had been offered a chance to sign Tolisso. And they have once again been given the opportunity to land the former Lyon man by Bayern Munich. Should it go through, the deal is unlikely to be just a straight player swap considering that Ndombele still has over three years left on his contract with the Premier League giants.
So, Bayern Munich will likely to have stump up some cash along with Tolisso if they are to coax Tottenham into entertaining their proposal for Ndombele. A player like Tolisso could be a handy signing for Spurs and essay a role similar to what Marcelo Brozovic did in Conte’s title-winning Inter Milan side last season. It will be interesting to see if such a move does go through in the January transfer window.
