Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho should return to the lineup, but Andrew Robertson remains unavailable as Liverpool get set to take on Leicester City.

Liverpool will be aiming to close down the gap to Premier League table-toppers Manchester City when they face off against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday.

Heading up to the game, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been handed a major boost as the quartet of Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara, and Curtis Jones is back in training and available for selection after recovering from coronavirus. “Yeah, the boys who had to isolate, or had COVID, are back,” the manager stated in his pre-match presser.

“That means Fab, Virgil, Curtis and Thiago. Thiago was the latest, he came back and trained yesterday for the first time with the team. We have one young player who is now isolating and two staff. It’s really tricky, every morning when you come in it’s a little bit like a lottery. You hope it’s all fine and then one case… that’s the situation, but apart from that we are fine,” Klopp added.

Liverpool will be fielding their strongest possible lineup as they need to ensure that they do not lose further ground to Manchester City in the title race. So, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see van Dijk getting reinstated to the lineup right away, slotting in alongside Ibrahima Konate at the heart of the defence.

The Reds will be without regular left-back Andrew Robertson, who is suspended after his sending off against Tottenham Hotspur. In his absence, Kostas Tsimikas will start on the left side of the defence while Trent Alexander-Arnold continues out on the right side. Alisson Becker will man the goal for Liverpool against Leicester.

Fabinho ought to return to the starting lineup as well after missing the last few games. The Brazilian should occupy the deepest role in the middle of the park, with captain Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita expected to start alongside him. Given that Thiago was the last of the Covid-hit players to return, he is unlikely to start and could get some minutes off the bench.

Upfront, the in-form Diogo Jota should get the nod over Roberto Firmino in the No. 9 role, while there is no looking past Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane out wide.

Liverpool Predicted XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Tsimikas, Henderson, Fabinho, Keita, Salah, Jota, Mane.
