Transfer News: Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona keeping tabs on Kingsley Coman

Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona are monitoring Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman, who will enter the final year of his contract in the summer.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Kingsley Coman’s contract situation at Bayern Munich has piqued the interest of several top clubs across Europe, with the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona keeping tabs on the Frenchman.

Coman has been with Bayern Munich since 2015 when he signed on a two-year loan deal from Juventus. Even though he had to share game-time with the likes of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, the winger made enough impression for the Bavarians to sign him on permanently and has grown in stature at the Allianz Arena since.

Coman has notched up a tally of 46 goals and 52 assists from 217 appearances to date, with four of those goals coming in ten Bundesliga matches this season. While he continues to impress, the Frenchman has had to share minutes with Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry and isn’t exactly an established starter in the lineup.

It has led to him considering his future in Bavaria, especially with the winger entering the final eighteen months of his contract. Bayern Munich remain intent on extending his contract, and talks have been held over a new deal, but an agreement is yet to be reached as Coman is demanding a contract worth €20 million per year, whereas the German giants are only willing to go as high as €15 million a year.

Due to the contract standoff, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona have taken an interest in the situation and are considering making a play to sign him in the summer.

Manchester United bolstered their wide areas this past summer with the signing of Jadon Sancho. They already have Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Amad Diallo, Anthony Martial and even Jesse Lingard as options. However, both Martial and Lingard are unlikely to be at the club come next season while Greenwood is being groomed to take over as the future No. 9.

So, there could be space for someone explosive like Coman to come into the squad. However, they will have to battle Real Madrid for his signing. The Merengues will lose Gareth Bale in the summer when his contract runs out at the end of the season, while Eden Hazard could also be shown the exit doors after his never-ending fitness struggles.

With there being question marks over the future of Marco Asensio as well, Real Madrid could do with adding a player of Coman’s abilities, even though they plan to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

Apart from the two clubs, Barcelona are also keen on the 25-year-old as manager Xavi Hernandez is believed to be an admirer of his qualities. The Catalans are still to tie Ousmane Dembele down to a new deal, with his current one expiring in the summer. The likes of Philippe Coutinho, Martin Braithwaite, could also be shown the doors, creating vacancies in the attacking unit.

So, even though they are on the verge of signing Ferran Torres, adding another talented wide forward like Coman to supplement the likes of Ansu Fati and Memphis Depay could be a good move. A major bidding war could be on the cards should he not extend his contract at Bayern Munich.
