Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham are among the clubs eyeing a January swoop for Braga star Vitor Oliveira.
According to Calciomercato, Vitor Oliveira has emerged as one of the most sought-after players in the Portuguese market at the moment. The Braga attacker is apparently a target for multiple across Europe, including the two London giants in Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.
Commonly known as Vitinha, Oliveira is a centre-forward by trade who is being regarded as one of the most promising talents in Portuguese football. A product of Braga’s youth academy, the player has raised many eyebrows, especially with his performance against Santa Clara, in the Taca de Portugal. He scored four goals in a 6-0 victory recently.
Vitinha’s efforts in the Cup earned him a promotion to the senior side in October. The forward has even notched up four league appearances in Liga Bwin, notably scoring his maiden goal in a narrow victory over Gil Vicente around a month ago.
The 21-year-old also represents Portugal at youth levels, and given his current rate of progress at Braga, it is only a matter of time before he receives a call-up to the senior team. His rapid rise to prominence hasn’t gone unnoticed by English teams either, with Tottenham and West Ham prepared to battle it out for his services next year.
Widely expected to lose Harry Kane next season, Tottenham are already in the market for a new forward. They are among the clubs in contention to sign Juventus outcast Dejan Kulusevski. In Vitinha, though, the Lilywhites could find themselves a more promising youngster, arguably with a higher ceiling. He could thus serve as an ideal long-term replacement for Kane.
However, one would argue that West Ham might be a much better fit for the young Vitinha. While Tottenham are finding a direct replacement for Kane, the Hammers are hoping to find a good alternative for their main forward, Michail Antonio.
The potential addition of Vitinha could help David Moyes better rotate his attacking setup while allowing him to cash in on fringe players like Andriy Yarmolenko. The Ukrainian has already appeared on the radar of Trabzonspor, and his potential January exit could pave the way for West Ham to bring in Vitinha.
