Manchester United full-back Alex Telles has emerged as a transfer target for Italian giants Juventus in January.

According to a report from Calciomercato.it, Juventus are prepared to raid Manchester United in the upcoming January transfer window. After selling Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer, the Italian giants could now play the role of a buyer and have already targeted a number of Manchester United players, including Alex Telles.

The Bianconeri are mainly keen on striking a deal to sign Anthony Martial, who has fallen out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is a long-term target for the Italians. But the club also hold an interest in Telles, another player who has struggled with a lack of game-time under Solskjaer.

Formerly of FC Porto, Telles joined Manchester United in the summer of 2020. He was brought in to offer competition to Luke Shaw at left-back, and the move worked out wonderfully for the Red Devils, as Shaw stepped up his game brilliantly to emerge as one of the best performers in the Premier League last term.

His rapid rise to prominence came at the expense of Telles, who mustered only nine Premier League appearances last season. This time around, the Brazilian has become one of many victims of Solskjaer’s sheer unwillingness to rotate his squad, having played just 17 minutes of league football so far.

Telles’ precarious situation has put Juventus on red alert as they attempt to lure the defender to Turin. Although the 28-year-old won’t be a guaranteed starter at Juve, it could be a welcome move by all means as the player does have experience of playing in Serie A, thanks to his short-stint at Inter Milan.

Manchester United, though, might not let the Brazilian leave Old Trafford, knowing he is a reliable player despite his lack of game-time under Solskjaer. Juventus themselves are yet to hold a concrete interest in the full-back, so a move to Turin remains unlikely for the time being.

Aside from Telles and Martial, though, Juve have identified a couple of more Manchester United players as ideal targets. One of them is their former midfield prodigy Paul Pogba while struggling Dutchman Donny van de Beek has emerged as a potential option as well, although they are set to face stiff competition from the Premier League duo Everton and Newcastle United.
