Tottenham Hotspur have registered interest in Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale, who is highly regarded by Antonio Conte.

According to El Chiringuito, as relayed by Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur have entered the market for Gareth Bale. The Premier League giants had signed the Real Madrid superstar on loan last season but had failed to make the move permanent.

However, newly-appointed head coach Antonio Conte believes Bale still has a lot to offer and could spice up the overall quality of the Spurs attack. While the club was not able to sign the Real Madrid misfit on a permanent deal in the summer, Bale’s current contract does expire at the end of the season.

It opens the avenue for Tottenham to snap up the Welshman for a cut-price deal in the upcoming January transfer window. The player himself is keen on putting an end to his career at the Santiago Bernabeu, having started three games this season before suffering a knee injury.

Last season, Bale had featured in 34 competitive outings upon his return to Spurs. He scored 16 goals, chipping in with three assists. However, the former Southampton starlet was not treated particularly well by ex-Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho, who utilised the ageing winger merely as a bit-part player in the team.

Bale himself had fallen behind Son Heung-min and Harry Kane in the pecking order. But with the latter being linked with a move away from north London next season, Conte wants to re-sign the Welshman in an attempt to add experience and quality into the Spurs team.

The 32-year-old is certainly not the only target for Tottenham either, with the new coach also prioritising a January move for Inter Milan star Stefan de Vrij. These two individuals offer immense experience and pedigree at the highest level of football. It could be useful as Conte looks to rebuild this Tottenham side from scratch after the mess left behind by Nuno Espirito Santo and Jose Mourinho.

As for Real Madrid, the potential January exit of Bale could serve as a bit of a financial boost for the club. It may even open up the avenue for them to prioritise a move for attacking targets like Kingsley Coman, among many others.

At the same time, though, they are facing a battle to keep hold of current stars, with Karim Benzema being the latest player to be linked with a move to the Premier League.
