Manchester United are prepared to sacrifice Donny van de Beek in a direct swap deal to sign Milan Skriniar in January.
According to a recent report from Inter Live, Inter Milan are bracing themselves for a Manchester United raid, for the pursuit of Milan Skriniar. The centre-back has attracted interest from clubs across Europe due to his excellent start to the campaign, with the Red Devils hoping to sign him in the upcoming January transfer window.
However, the Premier League giants do face financial constraints which is they are exploring the possibility of striking a swap deal involving Skriniar and their very own Donny van de Beek.
It is well known that the Dutchman is not happy at Old Trafford right now, due to his continued struggles over lack of game-time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Recent reports suggest that he is looking to force a move away from the club in the January transfer window, as he is ready to take the next step in his career.
Inter Milan themselves are among the potential teams in contention to sign the former Ajax starlet, with new coach Simone Inzaghi hoping to bolster his options in midfield. The former Lazio tactician has had a difficult summer, losing star players like Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku.
He may lose yet another gem in the form of Skriniar. The revered Slovakian defender has been one of the pillars of his team’s defensive success in these early parts of the campaign, helping the Nerazzurri secure four wins in six matches. His defensive partnership alongside Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan de Vrij, in general, was key to the club’s Scudetto title last season, under the leadership of Antonio Conte.
Skriniar’s success at Inter haven’t gone unnoticed either, with Manchester United prepared to further strengthen their defensive unit by signing the Slovak in January. At Old Trafford, he will be partnering this summer’s marquee arrival Raphael Varane, although there will be competition from Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.
However, Manchester United will have to fork out a lot more than just offer Donny van de Beek in a swap deal, in order to acquire the services of Skriniar in the upcoming January transfer window. The report suggests Inter are keen on holding on to the services of their prized defender this season unless a club matches their €60 million valuation.
It might be a bit too much for the Red Devils, who were also recently slapped with a €70 million price tag for another top target in the form of Kalvin Phillips.
