Transfer News: Real Madrid consider offering Rodrygo in Erling Haaland deal

Real Madrid are reportedly open to the prospect of offering Rodrygo Goes to Borussia Dortmund in a bid to sign Erling Haaland in the summer of 2022.

According to an update from Eduardo Inda on El Chiringuito TV, Real Madrid could consider using Brazilian forward Rodrygo Goes as a makeweight in an attempt to sign top transfer target Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund next year.

It is no secret that Real Madrid have been eyeing a deal for Erling Haaland for a while now. Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is harbouring hopes of creating a Galactico strikeforce by pairing up the Norwegian international with another long-time transfer target Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain.

However, signing the 21-year-old from Dortmund will not be easy considering how highly he is valued by the Bundesliga giants while there is also intense competition for his services, with the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City also keen. But, as per the update from Inda, Real Madrid may have an ace up their sleeve which could help land them the former Molde hitman next year.

The Spanish transfer expert claims that the Merengues would be willing to offer Rodrygo as part of the deal to bring Haaland over to the Santiago Bernabeu next summer. The 20-year-old Brazilian arrived at Real Madrid from Santos in 2019 and is widely regarded as one of the most talented, young South American forwards in the game currently.

To date, Rodrygo has featured 68 times for the Spanish capital club, bagging 10 goals and setting up 11 more. The 20-year-old has also managed to break into the Brazilian national team as well, making three appearances for the Selecao so far.

As per Eduardo Inda, Rodrygo is a player that Dortmund admire hugely and had been keen on signing even before his move to Real Madrid a couple of years ago. And, he adds that including him as part of the deal to secure Haaland’s transfer could prove to be the clincher in the race for the Norwegian international.

While Karim Benzema has been in blazing form over the past year, it cannot be ignored that he is 33 years old and will soon need to be phased out of the first-team gradually. And someone like Haaland, who has been plundering goals for fun since arriving at Dortmund in January last year, would be the ideal replacement for the Frenchman.

However, Rodrygo, too, has shown enough potential to indicate that he can grow into a vital player for Real Madrid in the years to come. So, it will be interesting to see if they are indeed willing to trade him off to make their path easier in pursuit of Haaland.
