Arsenal emerge as frontrunners to sign Club Brugge forward Noa Lang, with the Dutchman keen on Emirates switch next summer despite Leeds United interest.
According to Voetbal24, Arsenal and Leeds United target Noa Lang is believed to be open to a transfer move to the Emirates Stadium next summer. The 22-year-old winger is receiving lots of interest from several top clubs, but a move to England and the Premier League is a clear preference.
Arsenal and Leeds United are among the interested parties from the Premier League who might be willing to make an offer for the Netherlands Under-21 international. The player views Arsenal as a great move to continue his development and would be ready to join Gunners. In fact, it would be a dream move for the youngster, despite Gunners recent struggles.
Lang is regarded as the next big talent coming out of the Belgian Pro League and had a terrific 2020-21 season in which he registered 17 goals and provided another 11 times in 37 appearances for the Belgian outfit across all competitions. Lang has continued the red-hot form into this season, having produced an output of three goals and four assists from 9 Pro League games so far.
The highly-rated winger has lately gained recognition in the European markets following his exploits in the Champions League. Lang received the Man of the Match award in Brugge’s draw against French giants PSG in their only Champions League game so far this season. His consistent displays and stellar form point to a bright future ahead of the youngster, leading to attention from top clubs all across the continent.
The Gunners currently have Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Nicolas Pepe in wide positions. Pepe has been fairly inconsistent during his three years at the club, reluctant at tracking-back and a liability when not contributing offensively, while Saka and Martinelli are young and need quality competition.
Arsenal have recently turned to a youthful approach in their recruitment policy and Lang, 22, fits the profile. The Dutchman is intelligent at pressing and can fill in multiple roles across the frontline while being a skilled dribbler — the qualities Gunners boss Mikel Arteta demands from his players. He is also a creative hub and generates a lot of goal scoring opportunities for his side.
Leeds United were linked with the Dutch winger throughout the summer transfer window, but a deal never materialized, and instead, they signed Daniel James from Manchester United. The Whites are still monitoring the player’s progress over the current campaign and may revive their interest in the future.
Lang recently signed a new contract with Club Brugge that would keep him at Jan Breydel Stadium until 2025. Despite this, it is thought that the Belgian club would be open to selling if a substantial offer comes in — they are allegedly seeking a transfer fee of around €30 million for their Dutch wizard. Only time will tell whether Arsenal can get the deal done for this Dutch sensation come next summer.
