Barcelona have reached an agreement to secure the signing of 17-year-old Turkish prodigy Emre Demir from Kayserispor for €2 million plus bonuses.

As confirmed on the club’s official website, Barcelona have completed the signing of Emre Demir from Turkish club Kayserispor, wiht the teenage sensation set to join up with the Catalans in 2022.

Demir started out at the academy of Kuvayi Milliyespor before making the switch to the Kayserispor youth setup in 2012. Since then, the 17-year-old forward has made rapid progress through the ranks at the club, going on to make his first-team debut in 2019, aged just 15 years 7 months.

Demir has since gone on to make 31 appearances for the Turkish outfit, scoring three goals and setting up one more. The youngster’s rise to prominence with Kayserispor alerted Barcelona to his potential, with the club having been in talks to sign him since the summer.

Now, the Catalans have gone on to complete the signing of the 17-year-old prodigy. According to information furnished on the club’s official website, Barcelona will be paying a transfer fee of €2 million plus bonuses for Demir’s signing.

It is further added that the teenage forward will be staying put with Kayserispor till the end of the season before arriving in Catalonia next summer. He has signed a contract with the Blaugrana till June 2027 and has a release clause set at a massive €400 million.

Demir will be linking up with the Barcelona B team, with the Catalan giants focusing on strengthening their youth ranks so as to build stars for the future from within the club. This has seen the club sign the likes of Yusuf Demir, while being linked with prodigious youngsters like Arsenal’s teenage midfielder Charlie Patino as well as Arsen Zakharyan of Dynamo Moscow.

The first-team, over the past couple of seasons, has seen a lot of influx of youth stars. Ansu Fati, Pedri, Oscar Mingueza are some of the names that have made an impact over the past year, while the likes of Gavi, Alejandro Balde, Yusuf Demir and Nico Gonzalez seem set for increased involvement with Barcelona in the ongoing season.

Emre Demir, too, will be hoping to follow a similar trajectory once he arrives at Barcelona. For now, the 17-year-old will be aiming to continue his development with Kayserispor.
