Harvey Elliott is in line for a third consecutive start in midfield but Roberto Firmino will miss out when Liverpool face Leeds United at Elland Road.

Liverpool will be aiming to get back to winning ways in the 2021/22 Premier League when they lock horns with Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday evening on Matchday four.

Heading into the game, Jurgen Klopp does not have a lot of major roster concerns, with Roberto Firmino the only player currently sidelined due to the hamstring injury he picked up against Chelsea prior to the international break. Both Alisson Becker and Fabinho are eligible to feature after FIFA decided to lift the ban on Premier League clubs from fielding Brazilian players due to the selection row.

Furthermore, there is another boost as James Milner is also back in training and could get some minutes against his boyhood club on Sunday. Speaking of the veteran midfielder in his pre-match presser, Klopp said, “We have to see. We will see what he can do today. But he will get closer definitely.”

Klopp also confirmed that the players returning from international duty were all fit, after Virgil van Dijk had picked up a niggle in Netherlands’ last game, while Harvey Elliott had to withdraw from England U21 squad with an issue. “All the other players who came back from international duties are fine as well,” the Liverpool manager said.

With Alisson available, he will line up between the sticks as usual for Liverpool. The defence will have a familiar look to it as well, with Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk lining up at the centre of the backline, flanked by the ever-present full-back duo of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson on the right and left sides, respectively.

Fabinho, eligible to play after the whole FIFA farce, will line up at the base of Liverpool’s three-man midfield unit. Klopp also confirmed that Naby Keita was at the club and ‘well’ after safely returning from Guinea amid political unrest in the country. However, he is unlikely to feature from the start on Sunday.

Instead, Elliott, who put in impressive displays against Burnley as well as Chelsea, ought to get the nod yet again in the middle of the park for the Reds against Leeds. The other slot in midfield ought to be occupied by captain Jordan Henderson, with the fit-again Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain serving as backup options on the bench.

Moving into the final third, Firmino’s absence means Diogo Jota becomes an automatic starter through the middle. The Portuguese international will be flanked by the ever-present duo of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, with the former on the hunt for his 100th goal in the Premier League.

Liverpool Predicted XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Matip, van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Elliott, Salah, Jota, Mane.
