Transfer News: Ryan Gravenberch on Tottenham radar

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Besiktas: Group K - UEFA Europa League

Tottenham are keeping tabs on Ryan Gravenberch, with technical director Fabio Paratici eyeing the Dutch midfielder to be part of his plans at the club.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham are keeping tabs on the development of Ryan Gravenberch as the north London side eyes a move for the midfielder next summer. The 19-year-old Ajax midfielder has impressed Spurs technical director Fabio Paratici as the Italian embarks on assembling a young squad.

Spurs have made some intelligent moves in the transfer market, signing many young players who could potentially form the next core at the club. The north London side made five signings in the summer, with four of them under 23, except for on-loan goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini who is 26 years old.

Tottenham’s new technical director, Fabio Paratici, has been working hard behind the scenes to assemble a young squad and recruited new manager Nuno Espirito Santo. The signings of Bryan Gil, Pape Sarr and others signify the director’s intention to bring young talent to build for the future.

On the other hand, Paratici was instrumental in discarding many of the club’s ageing stars, such as Moussa Sissoko, who joined Watford while also parting ways with Joe Hart and Toby Alderweireld. Italian goalkeeper Gollini and Argentine defender Sergio Romero were signed as replacements.

Paratici’s project has just kick-started, and the club are expected to make further such signings alongside experienced players. One player who has emerged on their list is Ajax’s 19-year-old midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, also tracked by Barcelona, Juventus and other big clubs.

Liverpool were credited with an interest, although the Reds decided not to make too many moves in the summer market. However, Tottenham are interested and could approach Ajax next summer, when Gravenberch will enter the final year of his deal.

The idea seems to acquire Gravenberch at a discounted price due to his contract length with Ajax, although Spurs will likely face intense competition from bigger clubs for the Dutch midfielder. Paratici, however, remains confident an agreement could be reached.

Gravenberch made 47 appearances for Ajax in all competitions last season, in what was his breakthrough year. This term, the 19-year-old has continued his emergence and is slowly becoming a key part of Erik ten Hag’s setup.

Tottenham are an attractive prospect for Gravenberch, although the lure of even bigger clubs could become a problem for the north Londoners. However, if Paratici plays his cards smartly, the club could land the young Dutch prospect and build on for the future.
