After Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool have emerged as the next big club to have been linked with a move for Patrick Bamford.
A recent report from Goal has revealed that Liverpool were in the market for Patrick Bamford in the summer. The Leeds United forward had impressed Jurgen Klopp with his performances last season, causing the German tactician to explore a potential deal for the talented striker, who recently made his England debut during the international break.
Liverpool would not be the first top English club to be linked with a move for Bamford this summer. Last month, it was Tottenham Hotspur who had reportedly explored the idea of signing the former Chelsea prodigy who has enjoyed immense success since arriving at Elland Road in 2018.
Indeed, the Englishman has featured in 114 competitive matches for Leeds, scoring 44 goals in the process. His 16 goals in the Championship during the 2019/20 campaign were extremely important in helping them get promoted to the top-flight for the first time in nearly two decades.
Bamford continued his performances in the Premier League as well, netting 17 goals last term. His exploits in the final third helped Leeds United achieve a mid-table finish, with Marcelo Bielsa’s men looking to aim even higher in the ongoing campaign.
Liverpool’s interest in the former Middlesbrough striker is hardly surprising as the Premier League giants are considered to be in the market for a new number nine. The Reds have not had much success with Roberto Firmino over the past 12 months, with the Brazilian now seemingly falling behind Diogo Jota in the pecking order.
It has accentuated the need for a new striker who can not only compete with Firmino but also replace him in the long run. Liverpool have been recently linked with a swoop for Karim Adeyemi, but face stiff competition for Barcelona.
However, the Merseyside giants will certainly favour homegrown English talents in the wake of the incoming post-Brexit regulations. But getting their hands on Bamford might not be as easy for Liverpool, as the English international has already professed his love and commitment to Leeds United recently.

It is well known for the Bamford had snubbed Tottenham in the summer in favour of an extended stay at Leeds United. Hence, it won’t be surprising to see the 28-year-old remaining in Yorkshire in the years to come, with Liverpool likely to have to turn their attention elsewhere.
