Real Madrid have reportedly been asked to splash €90 million if they wish to secure the signing of Richarlison from Premier League side Everton.

According to a report from Tutto Mercato Web, Everton have slapped a massive €90 million price tag on star forward Richarlison, who is being courted by La Liga bigwigs Real Madrid.

Richarlison has grown into one of Everton’s top players since his arrival from Watford in 2018. In 119 matches for the Toffees, the Brazilian has produced a return of 42 goals and nine assists, enjoying a solid season last time out when he finished with 16 goal contributions in all competitions.

Richarlison is currently representing Brazil at the Tokyo Olympics and has been making waves with his performances. The 24-year-old, as a result, has a list of admirers at the top of which are Real Madrid. The interest from Los Blancos is chiefly being driven by new manager Carlo Ancelotti, who worked with the Brazilian at Everton over the past eighteen months.

Under the Italian, Richarlison improved vastly, and Ancelotti is seemingly keen on continuing the partnership at Real Madrid. Heading into the new season, the Merengues could use a player like the Brazilian in their attacking unit as well.

For all his quality, Eden Hazard has just not clicked in the Spanish capital and continues to be bogged down by injury problems. Meanwhile, the Brazilian duo of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes has been largely inconsistent, although they do have age on their side.

However, the same cannot be said for Marco Asensio, who has struggled to reproduce his best after returning from injury and could, thus, be shown the doors this summer for as little as €30 million. Thus, Real Madrid will need to beef up their attack as they look to bounce back strongly from a trophyless campaign last time out.

Richarlison, to that end, would be an option worth considering, given his history with Ancelotti and the form he has shown in recent times. Furthermore, his ability to play across the frontline would mean Real Madrid could also use him as cover for Karim Benzema until they are able to sign top target Kylian Mbappe.

However, the 24-year-old will not come cheap this summer, with Everton demanding a massive €90 million fee for their star forward. In addition to that, Real Madrid are also set to face competition from arch-rivals and reigning La Liga champions Atletico Madrid in pursuit of the Brazilian, making things trickier.

Given their current financial situation, a move for Richarlison would require Real Madrid to shed some of their players this summer. It remains to be seen if the Merengues are prepared to do that or go after cheaper alternatives instead.
