Arsenal have reportedly completed the capture of Fulham’s youth sensation Mika Biereth this summer, as the club continues its hunt for talented attackers.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal have made another coup in the market, in the shape of Mika Biereth. The 18-year-old English sensation has apparently agreed to move to the Emirates in the summer, snubbing a new contract extension at Fulham in the process.
A native of London, Biereth has enjoyed immense success with the Fulham Under-18 side in recent years. He fired in 21 goals in 21 games while registering 13 assists in the Under-18 Premier League. His contributions were critical in helping his team reach the competition’s final, though they did end up losing to Manchester City.
Biereth’s performances, nevertheless, have not gone unnoticed, with the youngster on the verge of sealing a move to Arsenal this summer. He is set to join a long list of talented players, including Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun, as they look to make an impact in the club’s first-team in the near future.
Arsenal have had tremendous success when it comes to nurturing their youth talents in recent years. The likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe have all enjoyed excellent growth, even becoming a crucial element in Mikel Arteta’s plans.
Unfortunately, the Gunners are still facing problems, particularly in the goalscoring department. Their star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has struggled under Arteta, while youth player Nketiah’s future at the Emirates remains uncertain. Alexandre Lacazette has not done much either and is likely to be offloaded by Arsenal in the summer.
The addition of Biereth, on that note, could make a world of sense. The 18-year-old attacking sensation can be a direct replacement for Balogun in Arsenal’s reserve team, with the latter expected to earn a promotion to the senior side in the coming season.
However, the road will certainly be difficult for the Fulham attacker, especially with Arteta keen on adding quality reinforcements in the attacking department. In fact, Arsenal are one of the clubs in contention to sign Chelsea outcast Tammy Abraham, with the player also reportedly keen on moving to north London.
Abraham’s potential addition, coupled with the presence of Balogun and Aubameyang next season should make it difficult for Biereth to get regular game-time. But at the age of 18, the English prodigy has time on his side and the potential to become one of the solutions to Arsenal’s goalscoring problems in the future.
