Arsenal are eyeing a swoop for yet another midfielder as they plot a Rangers raid, for the services of Glen Kamara.
According to an exclusive report from GiveMeSport, Arsenal have set their sights on Glen Kamara. The Rangers starlet has emerged as the latest target for Mikel Arteta, as he continues his plans to undergo a major overhaul, especially in the midfield department.
Despite enjoying a successful campaign with Rangers, Kamara is facing an uncertain future at the club. His current contract expires in two years. While the Scottish giants are in a position to keep hold of his services, they are running the risk of losing the valuation, with even now the midfielder being valued at just around £10 million.
A former member of the Arsenal youth academy, Glen Kamara joined Rangers for a fee of just £50k back in January 2019. It has been quite a bargain for the Teddy Bears, as the Finnish international has gone on to become one of the key components in Steven Gerrard’s midfield unit.
Indeed, the 25-year-old has notched up over 100 competitive matches for Rangers. His contributions in the middle of the park were essentially in helping the club secure the Scottish Premiership title last season, remaining unbeaten throughout the campaign.
His performances haven’t gone unnoticed either, with Kamara’s former club Arsenal now exploring the possibility of the player’s potential return to Emirates. It appears the former Dundee United starlet is being courted as an alternative for top target Ruben Neves.
The Gunners have already brought in Albert Sambi Lokonga from RSC Anderlecht, adding some much-needed depth after the end of Real Madrid duo Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard’s respective loan spells. In addition, the club has had to deal with the departure of Matteo Guendouzi to Marseille on a season-loan long deal.
Even Granit Xhaka is tipped to leave Emirates in the summer, with AS Roma still on the prowl. The Swiss international’s departure should create a massive void in the club’s midfield unit, thus allowing someone like Glen Kamara to potentially becoming a key element in Mikel Arteta’s first-team setup next season.
The Finnish international is not the only target for Arsenal, though. He is joined by the likes of Manuel Locatelli and Nabil Fekir in the long list of potential targets for the Gunners, as they brace themselves for a major overhaul this summer.
