Arsenal are in a pole position to secure the services of Aaron Ramsey, who is tipped to leave Juventus in the summer.

According to Calciomercato, Aaron Ramsey is closing in on his move back to England after a disappointing spell in Italy. He is expected to be offloaded by Juventus in the summer, with his former club Arsenal quite sensationally leading the race to secure his services.

The Gunners, though, are joined by fellow London clubs in West Ham and Crystal Palace in the pursuit of Ramsey. It appears the clubs have been attracted by the player’s experience in the Premier League, as well as the fact that the midfielder is unlikely to cost a fortune.

It appeals to Arsenal in particular, as they are in the market for a new playmaker after losing Martin Odegaard back to Real Madrid. The Spanish giants have reportedly slapped a €60 million tag on their star playmaker, which is unrealistic for the north London giants in the current financial climate.

Arteta had set his sights on Emiliano Buendia as the desired alternative, but the Norwich City star opted to move to Aston Villa. The club has now most recently been linked with a move for Nabil Fekir.

However, one would imagine that Arsenal will be inclined more towards the re-acquisition of Ramsey for multiple reasons. A product of the Cardiff City youth academy, the Welshman played for the Gunners for 11 years before moving to Juventus in 2019.

Ramsey has featured in 371 competitive games for Arsenal throughout his career, scoring 65 goals while also racking up a similar number of assists. His time at Juventus, though, has been extremely underwhelming, with the playmaker often struggling with a lack of game-time.

That said, Ramsey could be a useful signing for Arsenal, given his experience of playing in English football. However, they need to be wary of the competition from Crystal Palace and West Ham, who can offer the Welshman Europa League football next season.

The Hammers are likely targeting the Juventus ace as a potential alternative for Lingard, who, as recent reports suggest, is keen on returning to Old Trafford and fighting for his place in the team.

Palace are interested as well, but they are a highly unlikely destination for Ramsey. It will be interesting to see which club comes on top, but Arsenal are indeed favourites for obvious reasons.
