Naby Keita is reportedly ready to end his Liverpool career, with the midfielder reportedly offering himself to Atletico Madrid this summer.

An exclusive report from AS has shed some light on the future of Naby Keita. It appears the Liverpool outcast is determined to seek a move away from Anfield, as he does not quite bode well with Jurgen Klopp. As a result, he has now offered himself to Atletico Madrid, in the hopes of sealing a move to the Spanish capital in the summer.

The Liverpool midfielder has not enjoyed a particularly successful spell at Anfield since joining from RB Leipzig a few summers ago. His career with the Premier League giants has been rocked by injuries, with the Guinean notching up only 76 appearances in all competitions.

The ongoing 2020/21 campaign has been arguably the worst one for Keita, as he has featured in only ten league games – just seven of which were starts. The 26-year-old missed a chunk of the campaign with an ankle injury, but perhaps most importantly, he has fallen behind the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and even Curtis Jones in the pecking order.

It has left the former RB Leipzig man frustrated with Klopp, with his representatives publicly criticising the Liverpool head coach earlier this year. A move to Atletico Madrid, in that regard, could be a logical switch given the fact that Diego Simeone is bracing himself for a potential overhaul in the midfield department this summer.

On-loan Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is already expected to leave the club at the end of the season, while Saul Niguez faces an uncertain future at the club amid speculations linking him to a move to Manchester United.

Keita’s style of play could tactically suit Atleti’s high octane system under Simeone. The Liverpool outcast could, in fact, offer an ideal mix of dynamism, technique and aggression that make him an ideal replacement for Saul and a definite upgrade over the likes of Torreira and Hector Herrera.

As for Liverpool, they are unlikely to be fazed by the departure of the 26-year-old, but with Georginio Wijnaldum also set to leave the club in the summer, the Reds certainly need to step up in their pursuit of a new midfielder in the summer.

One of the players Liverpool are reportedly keeping an eye on is Borussia Monchengladbach starlet Florian Neuhaus, so it will be interesting to see how this transfer saga transpires over the next couple of months, as we brace ourselves for a busy transfer window ahead. It now remains to be seen if Atletico Madrid are ready to swoop Keita away from Liverpool.
