Juventus are reportedly eyeing a swap deal to sign Manchester United star Alex Telles and are ready to give up Adrien Rabiot in exchange.
According to an exclusive report from Calciomercato, Juventus have set their sights on Alex Telles, as they look to bolster their options in the left-back department. And in light of the financial crisis inflicted by the pandemic, they are willing to trade one of their key players in Adrien Rabiot to Old Trafford in a bid to secure the services of the Manchester United star.
It is believed that Juventus are not happy with Rabiot’s performances in Turin, having initially joined the club back in 2019 in a free transfer. Although the Frenchman has not struggled in finding regular game-time under Andrea Pirlo, it appears he has lacked consistency in the middle of the park, which has also coincided with the Bianconeri’s awful performance in Serie A.
A move to Old Trafford, therefore, could be an interesting proposition for Rabiot, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past well. Although the Red Devils have no shortage of talented central midfielders at the moment, they are expected to enter the market for a new one, in search of a proper long-term replacement for the ageing Nemanja Matic.
That is where Rabiot could prove to be a decent option, given his experience at the highest level of football. He also has the tenacity as well as the dynamism that might help him settle in quickly in the Premier League.
On the flip side, however, the report suggests that Alex Telles is currently unhappy at Old Trafford and would entertain a move to Italy, as he does have an Italian passport. At Juventus, he could turn out to be an ideal alternative or even a replacement for Alex Sandro, who been in and out of the side due to lack of consistency.
Manchester United, however, are unlikely to offload the Brazilian international, knowing the impact he has had over the elevated performances of Luke Shaw. The duo have healthy competition in the left-back unit, with head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer even determined to replicate the same environment at right-back by keeping his eye on in-demand Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez.
Manchester United, though, could be tempted to offload another star player in Donny van de Beek this summer as the Dutchman simply has not got going since joining the club at the start of the season. In fact, certain speculations last month suggested that the club is open to using the Dutchman as a makeweight in a deal to sign Jadon Sancho this summer.
Juventus, therefore, may potentially have the option of shifting their midfield unit a little by agreeing a potential swap deal between Rabiot and van de Beek this summer, although that remains hugely unlikely for now.
